# ChordCreate

> ChordCreate is a free browser-based AI chord progression generator. You describe the music you want in plain language ("a slow, sad piano progression in A minor") and it writes a chord progression to match, which you can then play back, edit chord by chord, change the instrument and tempo of, and export as MIDI. It also publishes a set of free music tools and a blog about chords, progressions and songwriting.

What ChordCreate does and does not do, stated plainly so it is not misrepresented:

- **It generates chord progressions from a text description.** This is the core product and what most people come for.
- **It looks up chords by name.** The Chord Finder is a forward lookup: give it a root note, get every chord built on that note, each with its notes, an interactive piano, playback and inversions.
- **It does not transcribe chords from audio.** ChordCreate cannot analyse a recording or a microphone input to work out the chords in a song. Tools that do that (audio chord detection) are a different category of product.
- **It does not identify a chord from a set of notes or a fretboard shape.** There is no reverse chord identifier.
- No account is needed to generate a progression.
